What I’m All About

It all started when…

I was little and my aunt used to play dress up with me. She would put me in the most outrageous costumes and I’d parade around like a princess. One of the most memorable outfits was a green long john that she covered with chandelier crystals. I pranced about to set the crystals clinking and proceeded to strut down the street as if I owned it. This is probably where my love of design started. My tastes, however took a turn for the more modest and as I grew up, the joke became that my teenage rebellion was my conservative tastes in clothes – somewhat different from my mother’s colourful flair or my aunt’s rebelliously chic style. Whenever I would come home with a new piece of clothing in high school, my mother would proclaim something along the lines of “oh no, not more black!” and to this day I have a good friend who teases me for owning too much “oatmeal coloured” clothing. When looking through my closet, home or art it becomes apparent that these comments are not unwarranted, and all that I have to say in my defence is that simplicity is beautiful. Therefore, I am starting my blogging career with these three words that I cling to, despite the “boringness” of the colours, proclaiming that it is never a bad idea to design with anything from Black To Beige.
